Offered for sale is a circa 1962-63 Charley Smith Louisville Slugger game used bat. Model P72 is factory stamped on the knob. Bat measures 34.5” and currently weighs 31 ounces. Bat was manufactured with a regular knob, standard finish, round barrel, and manufactured from professional grade ash. Bat is consistent with player specifications. Bat exhibits heavy game use, heavy stitch marks both above (light) and below (heavy stitch marks) of the barrel. There are numerous black ball marks scattered on the bats surface. An 8” handle crack with slight separation is present. Black vintage writing 9, C.S. is found on the knob. Per the MEARS Bat Trade Index, this is the only and highest graded example.
