This lot of 2 photos captures Roger Maris en route to and at the plate in his New York Yankees road grays during the 1961 World Series against the Cincinnati Reds. Measure 8" x 10". Oct 18 1961 stamps on reverse. Boston Herald Archives Holograms. (M0604)

The original Boston Herald was founded in 1846 by a group of Boston printers jointly under the name of John A. French & Company. The paper was published as a single two-sided sheet, selling for one cent. This is an original photo, in many cases a Type 1 printed at the time of the event. File copies or type 2 photos are also found, and can be distinguished by the markings on the reverse.
