1961-73 Roberto Clemente Pittsburgh Pirates "Boston Herald Collection Archives" Original Photos (BH Hologram/MEARS LOA) - Lot of 10 "$400 Value"

This lot of 10 focuses on legendary Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Roberto Clemente and spans from the early 1960's to his tragic death in 1973. Also pictured in this lot are Richard Nixon, Willie Mays, Orlando Cepeda, Smokey Burgess, Danny Murtaugh, Roberto's widow Vera and their children. Measurements range from 5" x 9.5" to 7" x 10". Photos contain various handwritten notations, date stamps and affixed cutlines on their reverse. Boston Herald Archives Holograms. (M0605)

The original Boston Herald was founded in 1846 by a group of Boston printers jointly under the name of John A. French & Company. The paper was published as a single two-sided sheet, selling for one cent. This is an original photo, in many cases a Type 1 printed at the time of the event. File copies or type 2 photos are also found, and can be distinguished by the markings on the reverse.
