Lot #105:

1958 Mickey Mantle Elston Howard & Hank Bauer New York Yankees “St. Petersburg Times” Original 9 1/2" x 6" News Photo (“St. Petersburg” Hologram/MEARS LOA)

Yankee teammates Elston Howard, Mickey Mantle and Hank Bauer are combining forces on this original 9 1/2" x 6" photo. The caps are darkened in a bit for better clarity. The following notations are on reverse: "Oct 4 1958" date stamp, editor's notes, names written and St. Petersburg Times hologram.

The St. Petersburg Times traces its origin to the West Hillsborough Times, a weekly newspaper started in Duedin, Florida in 1884. This is an original photo, in many cases a Type 1 printed at the time of the event. File copies or type 2 photos are also found, and can be distinguished by the markings on the reverse.
