1957 World Championship Victory Carmen Basilio Fight Worn Robe From Middleweight Title Bout vs. Sugar Ray Robinson at Yankees Stadium (MEARS LOA)

Offered is the robe donned by World Middleweight Champion Carmen Basilio for his 1957 battle with Sugar Ray Robinson at Yankee Stadium. Basilio was voted the winner in a 15 round split decision. 1957 Middleweight Title bout this meeting would be named Ring Magazine's Fight of the Year.

Robe itself is constructed of white satin with maroon trim and "Carmen Basilio" embroidered on the reverse in same colored thread. Some staining present. March 24, 1958 Sports Illustrated with Basilio cover and preview of the fight will also attend. (G0263)
