Lot #655:

1954 Sports Illustrated First Issue w/Card Insert

Sports journalism forever changed when Sports Illustrated was issued Aug. 16, 1954. While in a reduced condition, this SI shows Eddie Mathews taking a hack at County Stadium. The original baseball cards are still on the inside pages.

The cover is taped back together and also taped to the publication. There is edge wear and chipping on the cover. The back has a few rips and nicks.
