1954 Hank Aaron Milwaukee Braves Johnston Cookies #5 Card PSA Mint 9 Highest Graded Example Rookie Season

Baseball is a fickle sport. One minute you are on top of the world, the next you are replaced and on your way out of town. Such was the case for Bobby Thomson in 1954. He got Wally Pipped basically. In a meaningless Spring Training game, Thomson fractured his ankle and would be lost for some time. His replacement settled into the starting lineup and never left. The youngster who replaced Thomson - Hank Aaron.

1954 would be Aaron's first issue in the regular Topps set. Johnston Cookies produced cards of the local Braves team for the second time in 1954. These were inserted into boxes of cookies and are still the most popular Braves regional issues. The 1954 version was noteworthy because of its odd size (2" x 3 7/8"). Finding singles in high grade has become a tall order.

This Aaron #5 card is a blazer in the truest sense. The corners are razor sharp, registration crisp and centering 50/50 across the board. The cardboard gem rates as the highest graded Hank Aaron Johnston Cookies card to date with none graded higher.
