Dem Bums were always at the doorstep it seemed. For years those Brooklyn Dodgers were oh so close to success. But for some reason or another, the Dodgers couldn't quite get over the hump. This all changed in 1955 when the men in royal blue triumphed over the competition.
This ONL (Frick) baesball is signed by 24 members of the '51 Dodgers in bold blue ink. The ball is linked to 1951 because it includes Don Thompson and Phil Haugstad. The duo's only common year was '51. Signatures which highlight the baseball include Hall of Famers Jackie Robinson, Duke Snider, Pee Wee Reese and Roy Campanella.
Others who signed include: Chuck Dressen, Clyde King, Preacher Roe, Ralph Branca, Billy Cox, Bud Podbielan, Haugstad, Rocky Bridges, Carl Furillo, Cal Abrams, Erv Palica, Carl Erskine, Andy Pafko, Cookie Lavegetto, Dick Williams, Don Newcombe, Thompson, Wayne Terwilliger and Gil Hodges.
