MEARS has had the honor of marketing the ever popular 1950s Johnston's Cookies cards and even one advertisement in the past. Interviews will several lifelong Milwaukee residents confirm this box was used to distribute Johnston cookies during the era of the issuance of the cookie cards.
This enticing offering includes many unique Johnston Cookies promotionals. Included are:
27" x 22" Johnston Cookies Christmas Coloring Contest broadside. Staining is visible on the right corner. Prizes offered include: 6 Schwinn Bikes, 36 Westclox Watches, 1200 Scripto Pen & Pencil Sets, 120 Globe Roller Skates. On heavy cardboard stock. Our guess was the overwhelming majority of these were discarded following the promotion. Offered is one of the few exemplars of this sign.
Johnston Cookies table top display box. "Johnston" is embossed on the white door side. An empty box of Chocolate Grahams (we hoped there was at least one straggler) perfectly fits into the box. There is some paper loss on the bottom and one spot of paper loss on the right side. Measures 10" x 10" x 8".
The final piece of the puzzle are cards from a Johnston Cookies set, more for display than anything else. For the record, included are: Charlie Grimm, Billy Bruton, Ebba St. Clair, Vern Bickford and Sid Gordon - all in reduced condition.
