Offered is an 18" x 24" framed July 12, 1948 edition of the Baxter Springs Citizen, the official city paper of Baxter Springs, Kansas. The paper details the action from a pair of local baseball games involving the Baxter Springs Whiz-Kids who featured a switch hitting shortstop named Mickey Mantle in the lead off spot. Mantle went 3 for 7 with a home run over the two games and was slated to pitch the third before it was rained out according to the account. (57K0385)
