Ignoring tradition, the Pirates decided to switch it up in 1947 and incorporate a unique cap design. The traditional block “P” was traded for a more fancy script. Based on negative fan reaction, the design was quickly abandoned, thus creating a rare one year style. Construction consists of 6 panel design, 6 stitch standard size bill, blue crown button, and white Pirates embroidered “P”. Interior examination reveals the correct period Wilson tag. No size is readable. Elmer Singleton’s uniform number 26 appears in worn, faded ink in the area of the under brim. In the area left of the brim is some fabric damage and separation. Another area of damage appears under the “P”. Otherwise VG to Excellent condition. (N0264)
