Even in 1947 the media liked to create a little gossip. One newspaper hinted that Mel Ott was going to be replaced as the Giants skipper.

This letter, signed by the Giants treasurer Edgar Feeley on team stationery, tells the fan that his local newspaper was in error and that the team is happy with the Hall of Fame slugger. There are compacting folds on this letter.
