1942-45 Alex Carrasquel Washington Senators Game Worn Cap (MEARS LOA) “Possibly Worn by Walter Johnson as Coach”

Manufactured by Goldsmith, this 6 panel, all black cap is trimmed with white stitching and an embroidered “W”. Issued with the small 8 stitch pattern brim. Goldsmith is factory stamped into the interior of the leather brim. “18” is penned in vintage ink and consistent with Alex Carrasquel number during the time. As a point of interest, Johnson, Walt. Is etched into the leather band. We are unable to substantiate whether or not this was worn by Walter Johnson, but he did coach later in life, and Carresquel was a pitcher with Johnson’s former Senators team. Very good overall condition, with some damage to brim fabric covering. (N0254)
