From his earliest days with the Brooklyn Dodgers to the car accident that altered the course of his life forever, this lot of over 75 photos captures Brooklyn Dodgers catcher Roy Campanella. Also pictured in this lot with Campy are Walter Alston, Nat King Cole, Don Newcombe, Jackie Robinson, Stan Musial, Pee Wee Reese, Mickey Mantle, Warren Giles, Tommy Lasorda, Sandy Koufax, Yogi Berra, Monte Irvin, Fernando Valenzuela, and numerous shots of his wife & family. Measurements range from 3.5" x 6" to 8" x 10". Photos contain various handwritten notations, affixed cutlines and date & photographer's stamps on their reverse. Boston Herald Archives Holograms. The original Boston Herald was founded in 1846 by a group of Boston printers jointly under the name of John A. French & Company. The paper was published as a single two-sided sheet, selling for one cent. This is an original photo, in many cases a Type 1 printed at the time of the event. File copies or type 2 photos are also found, and can be distinguished by the markings on the reverse.
