Lot #2092:

1940/50s Ultra Rare Johnston Cookies Table Top Display Box with Painted Glass Advertisement & Lot of 18 Milwaukee Braves Johnston's Cookies Cards

Proudly offered is a never before seen Johnston Cookies adverting box from the Milwaukee based cookie company. To our knowledge, this is the only surviving pressed steel example. (We have heard of one collector that has a later plastic box) Milwaukee County Stadium and Johnston Cookies went hand in hand throughout their existence. An enormous Johnston Cookies red sign could be seen from the homey confines of County Stadium.

This Johnston Cookie holder is the first we have encountered. "Robert A. Johnston Co." is embossed around the top. A few marks and nicks are visible on the opener, which is still in working order. A placard reads "Not in Any Trust Johnston Milwaukee" on front, and the window is still in-place below the moniker.

The surface has taken on a glorious patina with only a slight hint of green on the lower portion. The bottom has oxidation and slight material loss, but it does not affect the overall display. Also included are 18 cards from the 1953 Johnston Cookie set. Warren Spahn, Bob Buhl, Del Crandall and Joe Adcock are highlights. We must report they are in reduced condition and serve better for displaying in their current state.

Measures about 10 1/2" x 12.
