Almost fifty years worth of Chicago Cubs memories can be found with the 33 photos in this lot, though it's doubtful any of those memories are of a World Series victory. Some of the Cubbies included in this lot are Rogers Hornsby, Leo Durocher, Dizzy Dean, Andy Pafko, Frankie Frisch, Ernie Banks, Hank Sauer and Peanuts Lowry. Measurements range from 4.5" x 7" to 8" x 10". Photos contain various handwritten notations, affixed cutlines and date & photographer's stamps on their reverse. Boston Herald Archives Holograms. (M0547)

The original Boston Herald was founded in 1846 by a group of Boston printers jointly under the name of John A. French & Company. The paper was published as a single two-sided sheet, selling for one cent. This is an original photo, in many cases a Type 1 printed at the time of the event. File copies or type 2 photos are also found, and can be distinguished by the markings on the reverse.
