Offered is a signature model 40K cork grip hand turned game used bat the measures 36” and weighs 38oz. This is consistent with his Louisville Slugger personal records that show this style of bat with these dimensions being ordered primarily in 1930-31. The bat had a bit of grain separation on back that has been secured during the era as evidenced by the vintage nails. The bat remains uncracked with heavy use and swelling on all the surfaces with some of the highest grade wood available at the time. The factory stamps are perfect and almost all of the original cork remains. It is well documented that many hand turned cork grip bats, at one time the most expensive bats offered by Louisville, were used by their respective major league ball players and the specs on this model are a perfect match for Simmons as to his signature model 125 game bats. 1930 and 1931 were not only World Series years for Simmons and the Philadelphia Athletics, they were also two of his best seasons as a power slugger hitting .381 and .390. respectively.
