Hall of Famer Ross Youngs was one of John McGraws favorite players. He played his entire professional career for New York. As far as Hall of Fame game used bats go, this is one of the toughest to find. In fact, MEARS does not have a single Youngs game used bat having ever been examined or graded. This example is a signature model old style dash dot dash center brand. He did not get his signature contract until 1921 making this a two year style offering.
Length:34.5"
Weight:41.7 oz.
Side Writing: No
Game Use: Heavy swelling and stitch marks on all surfaces.
Handle: Not cracked.
Comments: This bat is rough. It is a beauty until you get about 3" from the center towards the barrel. There is dead wood and moisture damage on all sides. The script name is easily read but the rest of the barrel has large areas of grain separation and end rot. The knob has many chips all around the edges as well.
