This lot of 45 photos captures various members of the St. Louis Cardinals organization from the 1920's through the 1970's. A selection of players featured include Bob Gibson (numerous), Chick Hafey, Taylor Douthit, Billy Southworth, Steve Carlton, Eddie Stanky, Dizzy Dean, Daffy Dean, Frankie Frisch, Enos Slaughter and Branch Rickey. Measurements range from 4.5" x 5" to 8" x 10". Photos contain various handwritten notations, affixed cutlines and date & photographer's stamps on their reverse. Boston Herald Archives Holograms. The original Boston Herald was founded in 1846 by a group of Boston printers jointly under the name of John A. French & Company. The paper was published as a single two-sided sheet, selling for one cent. This is an original photo, in many cases a Type 1 printed at the time of the event. File copies or type 2 photos are also found, and can be distinguished by the markings on the reverse.
