1920-27 Most Desirable Era Babe Ruth New York Yankees Single Signed OAL (Ban Johnson) Baseball - Full JSA Letter

Babe Ruth was good to his adoring public. Some believe the autograph bug began with Ruth. It was baseball's biggest superstar who fans waited and waited for. The Bambino rarely disappointed as he made time for his fans on most occasions. There were no "Sorry I cannot sign today" utterances by the larger than life slugger. It was always "Give me a pen would ya kid" and the youngster would go away happy with an autograph of the homer happy behemoth.

When Ruth first burst onto the scene, he would add quote marks around his signature. He ceased such a practice at or around 1927. This Official American League Ban Johnson baseball is highlighted with a Ruthian signature on the sweet spot. There has a been a layer of top coating applied to preserve the integrity of the signature. In our estimation the autograph rates "4" in quality. The ball has a few surface scratches, but the signature in unmolested. Overall, a quality "early" career penning from the man who helped save baseball.
