Typhoid fever ended Pickles Dillhoefer's life at the tender age of 28. For five years Dillhoefer played at a big league level.

Offered are the papers issued for Dillhoefer's release from the Army. There are compacting folds on the letter from 1919.

The letter is signed by a commanding officer. A card of Pickles is included as are his career stats.

Dillhoefer also signed this twice on the reverse. Ironically, it lists "Typhoid Prophylaxis completed" in June of 1918.
