Cleveland Indians shortstop Ray Chapman is pictured here during his 1917 campaign with the club. Chapman would die tragically three years later after being struck in the temple by a pitch from New York Yankees submariner Carl Mays.

Hand selected for inclusion in the book "Baseball's Golden Age: The Photographs of Charles M. Conlon, 1993" each of these offered images were developed from the original glass plate negative. Classified as a Type 2 by professional grading services, each image presents the finest in color, subject, and contrast. Near mint condition. Sporting News Hologram. (H1187)
