The Lincoln Stars (also known as the Lincoln Stars of New York or the New York Lincoln Stars) were a Negro league baseball team that played in New York City from 1914 to 1917. Their home stadium was Dyckman Oval, located in the Inwood section of Manhattan. Although they lasted less than four years, they were a good team that featured three players who would later be elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame—Oscar Charleston, John Henry Lloyd, and Louis Santop
There are few surviving mementos from the Negro Leagues. Offered is an oversized (32 1/2") pennant proclaiming the Lincoln Stars as champions of 1915. The championship series was marred with controversy because the teams split five contests and the final game called in the fourth inning with the Stars ahead by a run. The decisive game was never resumed.
The pennant has its original tassels and minor wear, EX/MT in our estimation. Interlocking bats are surrounded by "1915" and "Lincoln" on the left side. "Champions" is expressed on the front in thick felt.
