For collectors of early Louisville Slugger memorabilia, this bat would be the corner stone. Manufactured during the 1905-10 era, the bat measures at an unprecedented 39.5". Weighs 45.1 ounces. Marked in the center of the bat is the JF Hillerich & Son centerbrand logo. On the barrel is the PATENT NO. 71654 bat model. The large flowing script makes for an interesting display. 2" x 7" area has been sanded on reverse of barrel to make way for the H&B sidewriting. Although visible, the actual wording cannot be discerned. There is an 8" handle crack which was attempted to be repaired with two period nails. First style and size seen by the staff of MEARS. From the collection of the MEARS Staff.
