Offered in this auction is a lot of six bats from 1897-1931. The first one is a rare turn of the century J.F. Hillerich & Son Louisville Slugger patent bat. Bat measures 31", weighs 36 ounces and features a 1897-1911 era center brand along with "Patent No 716541" stamped on the barrel. A photocopy of the original patent applied for on October 31 1902 and granted on December 23 1902 will also attend. Heavy use evident barrel gouging, dead wood and handle tape present.

Additionally a 1921-31 professional model Dizzy Nutter H&B Louisville Slugger game used bat which likely dates to his 1922 campaign with the New Haven Indians of the Eastern League. Sidewriting present though it is no longer legible. 1921-31 era H&B center brand present along with a block letter "Nutter" barrel stamping. Bat measures 36.5", weighs 36 ounces and shows heavy use with ball marks, dead wood, shipping label remnants and a 9" handle crack. MEARS grades this bat as authentic. (MEARS Auction LOA)

The third bat offered is a professional model Spalding game used bat used by a player with the last name of Gross. 1926-32 era Spalding Hand Turned center brand present along with a block letter "Gross" barrel stamping. A number of players with the last name Gross played in the minor leagues during this time frame with the most prominent being Turkey Gross, who played 9 games for the 1925 Red Sox. Bat measures 34", weighs 33 ounces and shows heavy use with ball marks, stitch marks and deadwood which has been repaired with 6 period nails. Bat is also sidewritten, though use has rendered the details illegible. MEARS grades this bat as authentic.

The fourth bat offered is a professional model Mike Konnick H&B Louisville Slugger game used bat which dates to his lengthy minor league career. Bat is sidewritten in two different places with only the date "8-1-28" remaining legible. This pre-model stick features a 1921-31 era H&B center brand along with a block letter "Konnick" barrel stamping. Bat currently measures 35", weighs 35 ounces and shows heavy use with ball marks, stitch marks, deadwood and a 7" handle crack. MEARS grades this bat as authentic. (MEARS Auction LOA)

The fifth bat offered is a professional model H&B Louisville Slugger minor league game used bat. "Rodgers" stamped on barrel in block letters while bat features a 1921-31 era H&B center brand. Bat is also sidewritten with "Ray Dwyer 5-23-28". Bat currently measures 35", weighs 34 ounces and shows signs of heavy use with ball marks, stitch marks, bat rack marks and a large section of dead wood on the reverse of the barrel. The final bat offered is a professional model Heinie Sand H&B Louisville Slugger game used bat which dates to his time in the minor leagues following his major league playing career. Sidewriting on reverse of barrel reads "Joe Cambria 4-27-31". Bat is pre-model number and features a 1921-31 era H&B center brand along with a signature barrel stamping.
