Offered for sale is an original Legion of Merit Legionnaire engraved medal in original zig-zag presentation case properly government engraved to Joseph M. Cushman from Ohio who died serving with the 718th Railway Battalion. He was killed trying to slow a runaway ammo train with his engine. The medal comes in the proper box with lapel pin and ribbon and copies of research. The research copies are the orders for the Legion of Merit for Joseph M. Cushman, a copy of the page in the 718th unit history talking about the accident where this brave soldier gave his life for his fellow soldiers, as well as his NARA page of information about him and his service. This is a nicely engraved and unusual grouping and these posthumous ones are not often offered for sale. (63Q0047)
