Offered is a circa 1890's tobacco tin for C.H.Y.P. Inter-Collegiate Mixture. Pennants for Ivy League schoold Cornell, Harvard, Yale and Princeton (thus the C.H.Y.P branding) are set against a sporting motif featuring baseball, rowing, football, tennis and golf equipment. Tin measures 3 3/8" x 4 1/2" x 2 1/4" tall. Embossed print on interior reads "World's Columbian Exposition - Chicago - Awarded the Highest Prize for - Cigarettes, Smoking Mixtures - and - Cut Plug Tobacco, - to - Cameron & Cameron, - Richmond, VA. USA". The back indicates that the tin came from "Factory No.4 - nd District of VA." Given the tin's age it remains in excellent overall condition with minor chipping. (D0078)
