Nicknamed "Jolly Cholly", Charles Grimm he was a first baseman and manager in Major League Baseball, best known for his years with the Chicago Cubs. He played for the Pittsburgh Pirates early in his career, but was traded to the Cubs in 1925 and played on their 1929 and 1932 National League Championship season and in both series.
This is a very rare signature model game bat dating to Grimm's days with the Pirates (1921-24) and the Cubs (1925-30). It is 36 inches and weighs 34.4 oz. It shows tremendous game use with a repaired handle crack, deep burned in markings and a dark pre-war finish. The bat has the remnants of side writing and the original shipping label (no longer readable).
Grade: A7.5 (no points added for the side writing and label since they cannot be read). Collection of MEARS staff.
