The 1984 Summer Olympics, officially known as the Games of the XXIII Olympiad, was an international multi-sport event held in Los Angeles, California, United States in 1984. This was the second occasion Los Angeles hosted the games, the first being in 1932.
In response to the American-led boycott of the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow, 14 Eastern Bloc countries, including the Soviet Union, Cuba and East Germany, boycotted the Games; only Romania and Yugoslavia elected to attend.
The United States dominated the medals race winning 83 gold, 61 silver, 30 bronze. Carl Lewis matches Jesse Owens total of four gold medals. He began his medal run with a time of 9.99 seconds in the 100 meters. His next event was the long jump and his first distance of 8.54 meters was enough to wrap that up easily. His third gold was in the 200 meter, with an Olympic record time of 19.8 seconds. His fourth gold medal was in the 4 x 100 meter relay, which he anchored. He finished with a world record time of 37.83 seconds.
Mary Lou Retton. When 16-year-old Mary Lou Retton won the women's All-Around with a pair of 10s in her last two events, she won over the hearts of America. The gymnast, standing a mere 4’8” tall, entered the final two events in a close raise for the all-around title, trailing Romanian gymnast Ecaterina Szabó. Retton won by barely 0.05 points when she scored perfect 10s on both the vault and the floor exercise.

22" x 32" lithograph signed by LeRoy Neiman w/ very rare "8-10-84" date inscription. This date is significant as this was the day that Mary Decker Stanley, featured on the poster, was tripped by Zola Budd and became one of the most memorable moments of the 1984 games.
24" x 36" lithograph signed in gold marker by Saint Zivago w/ "8-10-84" inscription. (JSA was not able to authenticate the signature)
