Starting on June 14th through July 31st, 1978, Pete Rose amassed a 44 game hit streak which excited baseballs fans nationwide as he attempted to surpassed the 56 game major league record set by Joe DiMaggio.

Review of period images documented Rose wearing two batting glove manufactures, Saranac and Mizuno. When this glove entered the hobby, its provenance was solely the dyno tape display which accompanies this lot.

MEARS feels is possible that the claim is accurate as period digital images support Rose wearing Red Mizuno batting gloves during the 1978 season.

This glove was absolutely worn by Pete Rose, as it shows heavy game wear and pine tar on the inner palm. “Pete Rose” is signed in black sharpie on the Mizuno wrist strap.

A fine example of a game worn Pete Rose batting glove from the era of his most important seasons. LOA MEARS.
