1956 Joe Schmidt Detroit Lions “Seattle Times” Original 8 x 8.75 News Photo (“Seattle Times” Hologram/MEARS LOA)

Joe Schmidt of the Detroit Lions holds a boombox and a microphone in this vintage photo offering. Reverse includes: 1956 day stamp, affixed cutline and a Seattle Times hologram.

The Seattle Times originated as the Seattle Press-Times, a four page newspaper founded in 1891 with a daily circulation of 3,500, which Main’es teacher and attorney Alden J. Blethen bought in 1896. This is an original photo, in many cases a Type 1 printed at the time of the event. File copies or type 2 photos are also found, and can be distinguished by the markings on the reverse.
