Reds pitcher John Vander Meer, who's most famous for throwing two consecutive no-hitters, is pictured in this vintage 5" x 7". Reverse includes: World Photos stamp, 139 stamp, other (later) date stamps, affixed cutline and a Seattle Times hologram.

The Seattle Times originated as the Seattle Press-Times, a four page newspaper founded in 1891 with a daily circulation of 3,500, which Main’es teacher and attorney Alden J. Blethen bought in 1896. This is an original photo, in many cases a Type 1 printed at the time of the event. File copies or type 2 photos are also found, and can be distinguished by the markings on the reverse.
