Doug Hart played in the Green Bay Packers secondary with Herb Adderly and Willie Wood, and contributed to the teams three NFL Championships and Super Bowl 1 & 2 victories.

Hart played for the Packers from 1964-71 and spent ’63 on the team’s taxi squad, the precursor to the practice squad of today. He appeared in 112 games, intercepted 15 passes and returned three for touchdowns. Including having scored additional TDs off a blocked field goal and a fumble return, his five defensive touchdowns are tied for fourth in club history.

“I played with a good group, I made some contributions and I think I had a good career,” said Hart.

Offered for this lot is Doug Hart’s 1968 Green Bay Packers Game Worn Home Jersey. Issued by the Sand Knit company, the style of the tag was introduced during the 1968 season, thus allowing us to date the shirt. The shirt is 1968 only, as the following season, 1969, the NFL anniversary patch was added. The Sandknit tag with size 44 appears on the outer tail, and a red “44” size tag is found in the collar. “43” appears in single white tackle twill on the front, back, and shoulders.

Regarding game wear, the shirt is pounded. The front 43 numerals shows heavy signs of contact marks, split tackle twill, and overall heavy signs of contact. The left front has a heavy tem repair in vintage green thread. The back of the shirt shows equal signs of heavy game wear, with fraying of the 43 numbers and a heavy, vintage team repair on the reverse 3. A finer example of game use doesn’t exist.

To finish the shirt, Doug Hart signed the front in near mint black marker, “Doug Hart #43, my gamer”.

Final Grade (MEARS A10): Examination of the shirt with respect to manufacturer, style, game wear, sizing, numbering, etc., we found no reasons for a point deduction and awarded this shirt a perfect MEARS A10.
