February 3rd 1959 is a date that will life forever in infamy as The Day The Music Died, when a chartered plane carrying Rock N Roll legends Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens & the Big Bopper crashed in Iowa, prematurely ending the promising careers of all three young stars.
Offered in this lot is a collection of items from a Winter Dance Party tour stop on January 24th at the Eagles Ballroom in Kenosha, Wisconsin, a little over a week before the fatal crash. Included are a newspaper clipping promoting the show, an original 8" x 10" photo of Ritchie Valens stamped "T. Szikil 1-24-59 Kenosha" and a 4.5" x 6.5" sheet signed on one side by Valens, the Big Bopper, Dion & Frankie Sardo with signatures from Crickets drummer Carl Bunch, Dion, Debbie Stevens, Jim Lounsbury & Thom Mason on the flip side.
