Per the official MEARS Bat Centerbrand Index, this bat dates from the 1934-1944 era. During this era, Hornsby played for the St.Louis Browns (1934-1937), 1938 Baltimore (AA), 1938 Chattanooga (Southern League), 1940 Oklahoma City, 1942 Fort Worth, and 1944 Veracruz.

Measuring 34”, this bat is not consistent with Hornsby personal H&B bat records from the 1934-1944 timespan, therefore, this bat is consistent with team index bats and may have been ordered for Hornsby while playing in the minor leagues / Mexico, or may have been ordered to have been used within the team’s organization system.

Currently weighing 34 ounces, Hornsby ordered bats weighing 32-37 ounces during this era, thus making this bat consistent with Hornsby’s preferred weight during the era.

The bat shows heavy game use, stitch marks, multiple cleat marks, and an uncracked handle which has been professional repaired.

Final Grade (MEARS A8): Base grade of 5 points for bat being a professional model consistent with the model and weight used by Hornsby during the era, 3 points for heavy use. (03E0324)
