Offered is a one of a kind official "The Duke" white football with the Thorp Sporting Goods Inc stamp from fifth avenue New York. Official National Football League ball with the Bert Bell Commissioner stamp (On January 11, 1946, Bell was selected to replace Elmer Layden as NFL commissioner).
There is a total of 29 signatures on the ball in black, most of which would grade a strong ex-mt and perfectly readable. There are two autographs that are hard to make out, one under Bulldog Turner and the other under Joe Osmanski and after that appears to be someone named Homer ___. One signature is of Jack Goldi who is not listed on the roster and may be a coach or trainer and one other that is readable but the individual letters we cannot make out and is not listed on the roster and is the first name signed under "The Duke". On the main panel is written: Chicago Bears Cubs Park 1946.
The ball is somewhat deflated but the insert to refill is not there so we have not attempted to fill. The ball is toned and lightly soiled (may be cleaned by a professional as we did not want to ruin any autographs)All factory stamps are near mint and bold with fading to the black stripes.

The 1946 National Football League Championship Game was played at the Polo Grounds in New York City on December 15, 1946. The final score was Chicago Bears 24, New York Giants 14. It was the 14th annual NFL championship game. Since 1946 was the first year that Bert Bell was commissioner, that makes this a first year style ball. The Bears won 8 championships between 1921-1963, this being there second from last before the introduction of the Super Bowl of which that also won once. (Super Bowl XX 1985)
Overall, an incredible and ultra rare relic from the glory years of the old Chicago Bears that includes four Hall of Fame members.
