The Rumble In the Jungle is one of the Most Iconic Sporting Events in Sports History. This fight pitted Muhammad Ali against then-undefeated George Foreman on October, 30 1974 in Zaire, Africa. Offered in this lot is a rare piece of history from this historic event. Featured is a necklace with a medallion that was given to select members of Ali's Entourage from that fight. This medallion was given to Ali's trainer Angelo Dundee and comes with a Letter of Authenticity from Dundee himself. The front of the medal shows a portrait of Ali and says: World's Heavyweight Champion Muhammad Ali, 1974. The back of the medallion says: Good Luck From The World's Greatest! The Heavyweight Champion of the World. An Epoch! An Era! Muhammad Ali Kinshasa Zaire Africa October 30, 1974.
NOTE: Per my 25 years of experience in dealing with Ali Collectables, it my belief that this was made by Muhammad Ali and given to 6-8 trusted members of his entourage. I have an identical example in my collection. It is my belief that Dundee's letter is inaccurate with his statement that this was a gift from Mubuto. (65S0081)
