At the end of the 1963 season, the famed career of St. Louis Cardinal came to an end. The numbers gathered over a 22 year career were quite impressive, 22 seasons, 3,630 hits (National League record), and 475 HRs. MVP honors and World Series honors were also part of his career resume.
For this lot, we are offering a bat from “The Man” which dates to the 1960-63 seasons. During the final stretch, Musial appeared in 4 all star games, gathered 427 hits, and belted 63 homeruns.
Measuring 34 ½” and weighing 31 ounces, this M159 model bat was verified as being ordered by Musial during 1960,1961,1962, and 1963 via his H&B factory records.
The bat has light use in the form of a small scattering of stitch marks above his facsimile barrel stamping. One rack mark appears on the upper handle. A blue sharpie “Stan Musial” autograph appears in sharpie on the barrel sweet spot.
Grade MEARS A6. Base point of 5 was awarded for bat matching factory records, one point for light use. LOA Troy R. Kinunen / MEARS
