Offered is a scored program from the final regular season game of the New York Yankees 1956 World Series Championship season on September 30, a 7-4 loss to the Boston Red Sox in 10 innings. When the game concluded center fielder Mickey Mantle stood alone atop the American League leaderboards in batting average (.353), home runs (52), and runs batted in (130) earning him the coveted triple crown and later his first of three career MVP awards from the baseball writers. While The Mick didn't start this particular contest his pinch hit ground out in the bottom of the 9th drove in Jerry Lumpe to tie the game and gave him an insurance RBI over Al Kaline of the Detroit Tigers who would finish the season with 128 of his own. Program remains in F/G condition with some paper loss to the upper right corner. Our consignor originally obtained the program when his sandlot baseball team was gifted with a train trip to Yankee Stadium as a reward for winning the Championship Game for their age division in the Springfield Daily News Western Massachusetts Tournament.
