This lot of 7 photos documents Cassius Clay's 1966 victory over Cleveland Williams. 4 of the photos measure 6.5" x 8.5" while the other 3 measure approximately 2.5" x 4". Photos contain handwritten notations, date stamps and St. Petersburg Times holograms on their reverse. (J0489)
The St. Petersburg Times traces its origin to the West Hillsborough Times, a weekly newspaper started in Duedin, Florida in 1884. This is an original photo, in many cases a Type 1 printed at the time of the event. File copies or type 2 photos are also found, and can be distinguished by the markings on the reverse.
