Hank Aaron looks a little despaired while coming up empty in pursuit of The Babe on this original 7 1/2" x 10" photo. The following appear on reverse: production notes, "Set 28 1973" date stamp and Boston Herald Archives hologram.
The original Boston Herald was founded in 1846 by a group of Boston printers jointly under the name of John A. French & Company. The paper was published as a single two-sided sheet, selling for one cent. This is an original photo, in many cases a Type 1 printed at the time of the event. File copies or type 2 photos are also found, and can be distinguished by the markings on the reverse.
