Offered here is a headshot of Philadelphia Athletics and Detroit Tigers Hall of Fame backstop Mickey Cochrane snapped while he was still a student athlete at Boston University in 1924. This picture was circulated by BU in anticipation of Cochrane attending the first reunion of the university's Athletic Hall of Fame over homecoming weekend in 1957. Measures 5" x 7". The original Boston Herald was founded in 1846 by a group of Boston printers jointly under the name of John A. French & Company. The paper was published as a single two-sided sheet, selling for one cent. This is an original photo, in many cases a Type 1 printed at the time of the event. File copies or type 2 photos are also found, and can be distinguished by the markings on the reverse.
