Offered is a dealer returned signature model bat that was made for one of the most prolific players on the 1929 Athletics still not in the Hall of Fame. Bing actually came up in 1921 with the Washington Senators before joining the A’s in 1922 where he remained until 1926 upon which he found himself with the St.Louis Browns for the 1926-27 seasons. He rejoined the Athletics in 1928, just in time to play a major part in one of the best teams ever assembled. He stayed with the A’s thru 1934 playing on all three Championship A’s teams of 1929, 1930 and 1931. He finished his major league career in 1935-36 playing for the Boston Red Sox. Bing batted over .300 nine times. He led the AL in pinch hits and at-bats in both 1934 and 1935. An absolute gem that measures 36” and weighs 38.9 oz. It exhibits heavy game use with swelling and surface marks, a 5” handle crack, and some minor dead wood on back of barrel. The markings, finish, and patina are un-improvable and this bat has the “Look”. No points were added for the sidewritting as it appears to be a dealer post, often used by ball players as shipping posts for their items which are probably the case here. A solid A8 and a very rare key player for the A’s collector. When was the last time you’ve seen one of these. The first ever graded by MEARS.
