In 1981, a fresh-faced Dave Winfield put this bat to use. He was elected to the All Star squad in this, his first season in the American League and batted .294 on the season.
Using the dating code found on the knob of all post 1980 Adirondack and Rawlings bats, this bat can be pinpointed has having been made for Winfield for his first full season as a member of the New York Yankees. It is a block letter DW20 model with the Gwynn finish that measures 35 inches and weighs 34.6 oz. It shows heavy game use with deeply embedded ball and lace marks on both the back and top of the barrel. In addition, the bat has a 7-inch handle crack, as evidenced by its heavy use while the markings and finish remain perfect and unaffected.
Grade: A7.5
