1988-1990 circa Paul Molitor Milwaukee Brewers Game Worn 2nd Base Infielders Glove (MEARS LOA / Baseball Chapel, Inc. LOA)
With over 30+ years in the Milwaukee area buying and selling quality Milwaukee Brewers memorabilia, this is the first and only documented Paul Molitor game worn glove we have had the pleasure of offering.
Molitor was an active infielder during the 1988-1990 era, and this glove was supported by Rawlings as being made for him (1988) and would have been available for him to use. A letter of provenance from the charity for which Molitor personally donated the glove accompanies this lot. The letter reads,
“Thank you for participating in the Kawartha Rotary Gift Auction on Sunday, December 10th, 1995. This is to certify that the black autographed, Rawlings infielder’s glove was used by Paul Molitor at 2nd base while he was playing for the Milwaukee Brewers. He donated it to me to be used for fund raising for charitable causes. Paul Molitor is a personal friend and he joined me for lunch on Tuesday, December 19th at which time he confirmed that this glove was in fact used by him while playing 2nd base for the Brewers. Thanks again for your participation I the auction. All the best as you enjoy collecting sports memorabilia. Sincerely, David Fisher. “
The black leather glove is part of the Gold Glove series. It is model REB09 and part of the Heart of the Hide line. Glove shows definite game wear.
MEARS was provided this information regarding the glove from Delia Andrews, of Rawlings, Her email read,
“The REB09 is the key to dating that glove.
{See below} R=8 (for 1988) E=0 B=1 (01 for JANUARY). The glove was made in January of 1988 at the Tennessee Tanning Co.
