Taken from an original file negative, this image depicts a proud Lou Burdette and smiling Warren Spahn holding a trophy which reads, “Lew Burdette, In recognition of an outstanding no-hit no-run performance. Milwaukee Braves vs. Philadelphia Phillies, August 18,1960, Milwaukee County Stadium. Box Score, Lou Perini”. Spahn is helping his teammate Burdette celebrate his no-hitter.
During the inaugural Milwaukee Braves Historical Society Dinner (2001), MEARS conducted a private autograph signing with Mr. Spahn. A very limited number of these prints were signed, personally witnessed by MEARS President Troy R. Kinunen. A simple, aged version of his “Warren Spahn” autograph was signed in near mint blue sharpie marker at the top of the photo directly above the cap of Spahn.
On June 24th, 2001, MEARS worked with Lou Burdette to sign this very rare dual signed image. Great care was taken during the signing; with new blue sharpie markers being rotated after just a few autographs were signed, insuring only the highest quality signatures appeared on this remarkable print.
To our knowledge, this is the only oversized 16x20 item ever signed by both Milwaukee Braves legends.
