Offered is a green composite football helmet dating to Heisman Trophy winner Ernie Davis's earliest days playing football with the Superior Buick Small Fry team circa 1951. "E. Davis" written inside helmet with a letter from Marie Fleming (his mother) detailing the provenance of the helmet also attending. Heavy wear shown. Very rare item with impeccable provenance from the first African American Heisman Trophy Winner. Early items with with strong provenance are highly desired among high end collectors. (19U0367)
