Offered is a wonderful ensemble that includes 2008 Rookie-of-the-Year’s actual “armor” used in the thick of battle that season. Soto’s chest protector is customized by the manufacturer, incorporating the name “Geo” into the top-center portion. Delightful reminders of Soto’s game-use are scattered about. Exhibiting even greater wear are the shin-guards, bearing untold numbers of “in-the-trench” encounters that helped earn him the most coveted honor bestowed upon a Major League rookie, and helped his Chicago Cubs capture the National League Central Division Championship in 2008. Soto has signed both shin guards and the chest protector in silver sharpie.
