NOTE: THE NAMEPLATE IS LATER FROM HIS CAREER

Produced by Rawlings, this black leather deer tanned cowhide glove is consistent with respect to manufacturing traits associated with Ken Griffey Jr. game worn gloves. Fitting your right hand for the left handed throwing Griffey, this glove exhibits moderate to heavy game wear, consistently applied to the entire body of the interior/exterior of the glove.

The red circular with white lettered “R” patch appears to the right of the thumb. “Ken Griffey Jr.” appears in yellow script on the outer thumb. The pocket is the TRAPEZ Model and is embossed on the forefinger. On the outer pinky finger is “GOLD GLOVE SERIES” with three factory applied gold dots underneath. Our research indicates this is a key feature, as the signed UPPER DECK authenticated Griffey Jr. gloves are found with the four dots under the phrase. This supports this glove as being a professional model made specifically for use by Ken Griffey Jr. Additionally, a 2”x3” red RAWLINGS embroidered cloth patch is found on the back of the glove. Underneath the red patch is piece of black leather that has two quarters placed. The glove is laced with brown lacing and trim. The interior stamp reads, “PRO-TB, For the Professional Player”, “GOLD GLOVES”, “HEART of HIDE”, “Made in USA”, “Rawlings”.

Glove shows moderate to heavy wear. According to our consignor, the glove actually came from the mid 90s from what the previous owner had told me. He said that the person he got the glove from was the White Sox head of security during the 90s and had been given the glove by Griffey during the 90s, way before he played for the team. Also, accompanying the lot is a locker plate from his 2nd to last season with the Seattle Mariners. LOA Troy R. Kinunen / MEARS
