Offered are a a pair of custom shoes which were worn by Anthony Thornton when he set the Guinness World Record for longest distance walking backwards in 24 hours, covering 95.4 miles from December 31st 1988 to January 1st 1989.

The feat took place in Minneapolis, MN. Backward walking has been a sport for over 200 years. Anthony Thornton trained for a decade in the obscure sport, but a sport that took create mental command to be a world class participant. When discussing the shoes and the World Record event, Thornton noted that after 7 hours or so, it became nearly impossible to walk forward, as your body has adjusted to the new backward movement.

A pioneer and innovator in the sport, there is a printout of Thornton's patent for the shoes also included. Shoes show heavy wear. Proceeds from the sale go to assist a family member in need of medical care. Rare opportunity to obtain an actual piece recognized by the Guiness Book of World Records.
